Introduction

Why should I write this short, concise tutorial on packing a Go-Bag for all your travel needs?   

With over 20 years as a chemical engineer in the pharmaceutical industry, I have been on the move, solving problems in various locations. And when work was not enough, I used my frequent flyer points and hotel rewards to explore even more. My travels have taken me to over 40 countries, circling the globe at least three times and visiting a significant portion of the lower 48 states. 

My experience in the most regulated industry in the world has given me a deep understanding of checklists, preplanning, and protocol systems. I've either created or improved them. Checklists were my world, and now I am sharing the most enjoyable ones with you- those for traveling. I have added my individualized touch to these tips and tricks, making them not just informative but also fun and engaging.  

When I first sat down to write this tutorial, I decided to take the minimalist perspective and list the necessities one needs when traveling. But that is not fun, whether traveling for work or pleasure, for adventure or to relax and get away. We are Americans. We want our stuff—the comfort of home without having to be home.  

We must travel light— with freedom, not 1000 lbs. of luggage. How do you ensure you have all you need, use what you have, and not take anything you do not need? How do you pack smart so that you can be the SAVVY TRAVELER?
